What we do:
Each week we run two levels of classes:Beginners, where you don't need any previous knowledge, just a willingness to learn and enjoy yourself. Improvers, where you may have danced before and have some knowledge of the basics. Here we'll brush up on the basics to introduce a bit more style and we'll add some more interesting variations. We'll show you how you can 'mix and match' steps to use the available space in a crowded ballroom and we'll teach the less popular, but exciting dances. Its better to come with a partner, but if you come on your own there's a good chance we can team you up with someone, but we can't guarantee it. We don't mix up partners, you dance with who you've come with, or who's available to dance with. If in doubt its best to come along and see who's there - if you don't dance you don't have to pay. If you come on your own and you don't dance, leave some contact details and we'll be in touch as and when people enquire for a dance partner. If you miss a few weeks and think you're too far behind to rejoin, either phone us for an update of where we are or have a look at the rough timetable in the 'Dates for your Diary' section to see when we are starting new dances. Each new dance will start right at the beginning, so its a good opportunity to join or rejoin.Ballroom dances comprise: Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese WaltzLatin American dances comprise: Cha-cha, Rhumba, Jive, Samba, Paso dobleThe classes run as follows:7.30 to 8.00pm: Intermediate Latin8.00 to 8.30pm: Beginners Latin8.30 to 9.00pm: Intermediate Ballroom9.00 to 9.30pm: Beginners BallroomFrom 9.30 to 10.30pm we'll have some general practice dancing with help and advice from Brian and Jackie and include some sequence dances such as the 'Square Tango', 'Mayfair Quickstep' and 'Saunter Together'.The classes will run in the winter months only, from October to around Easter. Summer, we think, is more suited to barbeques, evening walks and country pub visits than learning to dance indoors on a hot evening. Unfortunately, due to other commitments we are not able to run classes in the winter of 2009Next classes start: October 2010.By close of season around Easter, we will have covered the basics in all the dances, leaving you to practice during the summer, ready for the improvers class starting in October. In the Improvers class we?ll have consolidated the basics and added some interesting variations. We?ll then take another summer break and start all over again in autumn 2011.There's lots to do in a friendly social atmosphere, with the emphasis firmly on having fun. We both hope you give it a try and have fun.We look forward to seeing you.
